Up to 24 past Cup Champions will be giving the command "Gentlemen, START - YOUR - ENGINES!" Greats like Darrell Waltrip, Cale Yarbourough, and Richard Petty. We're also missing some, guys who the racing world thought were invincible- you know who I'm talking about- Dale Earnhardt. Benny Parsons as well.
Benny Parsons died a year and a half ago, after fighting cancer for months. He will forever be remembered as one of the greatest drivers, on and off the track.
And Dale Earnhardt. Even if you're not a racing fan, you know that name. It has become to NASCAR as life is to us. He was a great man. Someone that people could relate to. One of his most famous quotes was "I'm living my dream right now. I can race on Sunday, then come back here [his home in North Carolina] and go fishin' on Monday." Those few words sum up the being of the greatest NASCAR legend of all time.
Maybe that's why so many people will be watching his son, Dale Earnhardt Jr., in the race today. It has been 10 years since Dale Sr. won his lone Daytona 500. It was there that he died in the most memorable crash in history. "Junior", as he is called by his many fans, is driving a new car, with a new number, but he is the last link that some fans have to Dale Earnhardt. So, all of the NASCAR world wishes Junior & Hendrick Motorsports the best of luck today. Kick butt ya'll... for your Dad's sake.

Hey,
If you're going to reply to something on a particular post, do it on the most recent post. Sometimes you say something on an older post and then I don't get it until later.
Just a head's up...
